During the night of 11/12th December, 1914, the 1st North Staffordshire battalion of 17 Brigade, 6th Division moved into very wet and muddy trenches at Rue du Bois near Fleurbaix where they remained for the rest of the month. George Turner was killed on 18th December, a day of heavy shelling. |
